mother, i'm out of the nest!

Mother, I’m out of the nest.
Mother, I’ve made it to this scary world all alone
never stopped kicking and screaming but
Mother, I think I’ve proved you wrong.

Mother, you’re preaching again.
"In the name of Jesus, get up for church!"
Mother, you’re delusional
confessing my sins isn’t supposed to hurt!
Mother, dear, I don’t think you’re listening to me anymore.

Mother, you can be so cruel sometimes
with the games you play.
Well guess what, mother?
I think I’ll stop talking to you today.

Mother, when will ever you learn?
Mother, w
hy can't I play?
Mother, why can't I tell you about my day?

Mother, I learned how to be stubborn from you
Mother, I can ignore people like you.
Mother, your little girl is growing up
she couldn’t have done it without you but
Mother, it’s time you stopped tracking down
her footsteps in the mud.

The day you fear will come is near
And this time I know what’s best
Mother, I’m flying out of the nest.
