flowers of the heart
-- Sita --

This Garden once did bloom;
With the most exquisite flowers
With hope—they grew strong
And with love they were showered,
Until this warmth betrayed them
Causing them to wilt and die:
Harden and crack, frozen with ice,
Bury the memories of you and I.
And now my sun is gone;
And now clouds rule my sky
And my tears are the rain
That falls from my eyes
Crying for the pain
That no flowers remain
In this garden of truth
In this garden of lies:
You knew these flowers were my hope
This garden was my prize
Yet the seeds you sew
Could only grow
In the soil of compromise.
So to you I leave this garden
So carefully tended all these years
Now dark and gloomy full of clouds
And drowned by the flood of all my tears
Bury this garden with all of your fears,
And when planting season comes around again,
I’ll be far away from here.
