Art/FX Gallery presents new works by Seattle artist Mark H. Magill. This series of vibrant acrylic portraits entitled "Children in the Wake" explores the children who are riding the wake of the adults in their lives, striving to keep up in a grown up world. Familial and cultural paradigms are questioned in this study: "Why are so many of our children screaming to be heard and taking desperate measures to get our attention?" Why are the feelings and opinions of many children being ignored and lost in the shuffle?" "How do our own upbringings influence the way we drag our kids behind us as we sail on through, full steam ahead?" These highly emotional paintings each tell a story of childhood, reminding us of our own lives as well as of the lives of the children that we know.

"Children in the Wake" opens Saturday, May 2 and runs through Sunday, June 28. Artists Reception is May 2 from 7:00pm to 10:00pm.
