Emotions are commonly misunderstood and society tends to suppress them.
Whether in the professional workplace, at our children's schools, or in
the home, emotions play a key role in our daily relationships. The ability
to understand emotion is an essential skill for effective interpersonal
communication.
Two of ELA's driving beliefs are that emotion literacy is a need that
extends across all social boundaries and that tools to understand emotion
can be acquired by people of all backgrounds.
Due to the lack of education and information about the relationship between
feelings and words, ELA seeks to inspire awareness and foster curiosity
in as many people as possible. Emotion literacy can be applied to every
facet of daily life, occupationally and interpersonally.
